ON HOLD UNTIL LATER DATE
For people with high visual demands to people with advanced corneal disease, specialty custom contact lenses can be made to enhance each patient's life.
Dr. Kuhn has over 10 years of experience fitting, adjusting, modifying, and providing maintenance care for people with ocular prosthetic devices and eyes!
Prosthetic devices include tinted and/or painted contact lenses, as well as full rigid ocular devices.
Our goal is to restore confidence and comfort to patients who are affected with these conditions!
An ocular prosthetic examination consists of in-office measurements, photography, and device trials to find the perfect fit and appearance. The process usually involves 3-4 visits to finalize the design and typically takes about 4-6 weeks to complete.
For those in need of continued care and maintenance of ocular prosthetic devices and eyes, we offer evaluation and polishing services to be scheduled as needed throughout the year.
The front of the eye, called the cornea, is essentially a regular-shaped dome. In some cases, there can be scar tissue or thinning disorders of the cornea leading to abnormalities in the shape of the eye. Diseases like keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, graft vs host disease, as well as scar tissue from prior corneal transplants, injuries, infections or refractive surgery (RK/LASIK) can alter the cornea's shape in this manner, causing irregular astigmatism. In this case, irregular astigmatism can cause doubling in vision, glare, and blur.
Unfortunately, glasses alone won't help to improve vision to a normal level and these individuals are unable to see without specialized custom contact lenses.
The Good News: Custom Gas Permeable Contact Lens Designs can drastically improve or restore vision for people with severe vision disorders. Dr. Kuhn has over 15 years of experience in prescribing, evaluating, and fitting these custom lenses! Call to schedule your fitting evaluation today!
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
